(Incubator) Agromo.ai: Software Engineer
Agromo.ai, a recent member of the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence’s (AI2) incubator is looking for an experienced software engineer. As the world’s population approaches 8 billions and heading towards 9 billions in a couple of decades, demand for food is increasingly stretching our agricultural production capacity like never before. Agromo seeks to use AI to help us cope with this global challenge, applying computer vision and IoT sensors to help farmers optimize crop yield.
We are looking for a creative software engineer who is passionate about data that feeds our AI algorithms. As a key member of the technical team, you will lead the design and implementation of Agromo’s cloud-based data backbone that collects and processes data from IoT sensor and drone-mounted cameras in a robust and scalable way. You will work closely with engineers and scientists at both Agromo and AI2 to turn the collected data into actionable insight that helps farmers produce more with less. This is an excellent environment to build, experiment, and learn about the latest technologies from serverless to hyperspectral image analysis using deep learning. We value creating data-driven AI products iteratively by composing open source solutions and adding our own software when we need it. Come join us!
We’d love to hear from you if:
- You demonstrate a track record of trying, learning, and excelling at new things
- You have deep experience with distributed systems, cloud technologies, and data technologies such as Apache Spark and SQL
- You take pride in building robust, scalable, and easy-to-maintain data pipelines
- You’re curious about the technologies you use and take initiative to dive in and figure things out when you have a question
Agromo embraces diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.
