AI2 CEO Ali Farhadi Joins the Seventh Bipartisan Senate Forum on Artificial Intelligence

As a part of the Seventh Bipartisan Senate Forum on Artificial Intelligence, AI2 CEO Ali Farhadi traveled to D.C. to provide insight and guidance around AI policy.  In his statement, Farhadi said, “I would like to unequivocally state that closed and safe are not synonyms. Transparency is at the core of all research into trust, safety, and explainability in AI, and open models are essential for transparency. Improved Weather Forecasting is "The Quiet Revolution"

AI is helping generate forecasts faster and could take models beyond weather prediction. AI2's Climate Modeling team is harnessing these advancements to try to anticipate Earth's climate well into the future. In a conversation with Science Magazine, Senior Director Chris Bretherton said, "We can make emulators of these models and then run them 100 times faster."
