Satlas Explorer

2023
Satlas Explorer is a demonstration of the use of AI to extract a variety of interesting data from satellite imagery, which can provide a near-real-time understanding of how our planet is changing. The current release contains predictions for: (1) the positions of offshore infrastructure (offshore wind turbines and platforms); (2) tree cover, including forest gain and loss data; (3) the positions of renewable energy infrastructure (solar farms and wind turbines); and (4) high-resolution 2.5 m/pixel imagery, up-sampled by 4x from public domain Sentinel-2 images. The data, which is computed globally on a monthly basis, can be viewed in the interactive map on the website or downloaded for offline analysis.
